Worker dies in Quezon City police station

MANILA, Philippines – A 44-year-old construction worker who was recently arrested by the operatives of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) for frustrated murder died in a cell at the Talipapa police station Thursday night, an official said yesterday.

Melvin Peralta of Barangay Culiat, Quezon City was unconscious when he was found by his fellow inmates Ronnie Palmes and Allan Chua in the detention facility of the Talipapa police station at around 11:20 p.m. on Thursday, Police Officer 3 Victorio Guerrero of the Talipapa police station said. 

Palmes and Chua sought the assistance of Senior Police Officer 2 Harry Bodomo, chief investigator of Talipapa police station, who rushed the victim to the Quezon City General Hospital.

Bodomo was accompanied by Senior Police Officers 1 Edwin Dela Cruz and Stephen Kenneth.

Peralta, who was arrested on Nov. 2, was declared dead on arrival.

Inspector Elmer Monsalve, head of the QCPD homicide investigation section, said they are waiting for the results of an autopsy on Peralta.
