MANILA, Philippines - The Eastern Police District (EPD) will invite for questioning a policeman accused of harassing CNN Philippines news anchor Gani Oro last Wednesday, an official said yesterday.
Superintendent Cresencio Landicho, Mandaluyong police deputy chief, said Police Officer 3 Joeson Villagracia, assigned to Camp Crame, had a “misunderstanding in the past few days” with Oro.
Landicho said they have yet to get the statements of the two men.
Earlier, Oro asked the help of Philippine National Police after Villagracia reportedly threatened him with a gun during a Rotary Club meeting in Novaliches.
Villagracia went to the CNN office yesterday to settle the issue but Oro sought the help of EPD director Senior Superintendent Elmer Jamias, who in turn dispatched Landicho to the area.
Landicho said he managed to talk only with Oro as Villagracia had left when they arrived.
