Cop sued for swindling PNP applicant’s aunts

MANILA, Philippines - Two women sued a policeman for allegedly convincing them to shell out P195,000 for him to facilitate their nephew’s entry into the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Police Officer 1 Lowie Boy Pinlac, of the National Capital Region Police Office’s Regional Police Holding and Accounting Unit, was charged with estafa before the Quezon City prosecutor’s office on Friday, case investigator Police Officer 3 Hermogenes Capili of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit said.

Pinlac allegedly received a total of P195, 000 from complainants Carmencita Garia of Novaliches Quezon City and Ildeliza Bache of Caloocan City, whom he met through a common friend, Kiko Francisco.

Capili said Pinlac allegedly promised the complainants to help their nephew, Paul Marvin Garcia, in his bid to join the PNP in 2012 and take his oath as a police recruit.

The complainants’ nephew was not one of the police recruits who took their oath in 2013.
