Ai Ai’s husband wants her cited for contempt

MANILA, Philippines - The camp of Jed Salang, the estranged husband of comedian Ai Ai delas Alas, has filed a petition asking the Quezon City regional trial court (RTC) to cite her for indirect contempt for granting interviews despite an earlier gag order.

In a five-page petition, Salang – through lawyer Joel Ferrer – said Delas Alas violated the June 19 gag order issued by RTC Branch 94 Judge Roslyn Rabara-Tria when she granted interviews to two magazines and a television show. The petition was raffled off to RTC Branch 216.

“This is in direct violation not only of the gag order but the sub judice rule as well, to the extreme prejudice of petitioner (Salang),” it added.

The case stemmed from the May 24 case filed by the comedian against Salang, whom she accused him of physically abusing her. The court granted her a temporary protection order on May 27.

Salang and Delas Alas were married in Las Vegas on April 3. The comedian said they broke up on May 2 after her partner of more than a year physically abused her when she refused to celebrate their first month as a wedded couple in a casino. Salang has declined to issue statements regarding the allegations against him.
