Manila, Philippines - The city government of Manila will bestow the “Diwa ng Lahi” Award to comedy king Dolphy in a simple ceremony at the City Hall today in recognition of his achievements and contributions to Filipino arts and culture.
Dolphy, Rodolfo Vera Quizon in real life, was among the recipients of the “Patnubay ng Sining at Kalinangan” Awards in 2007.
Mayor Alfredo Lim urged the public to offer a minute of prayer for the speedy recovery of Dolphy. Like Lim, Dolphy was also born in Tondo.
The comedian remains in critical condition at the Makati Medical Center.
