MANILA, Philippines - An alleged snatcher was shot by a mall security guard in Makati City shortly after reportedly grabbing a cell phone from a passerby yesterday morning.
Makati City Police acting chief Superintendent Jaime Santos said Jimmy Servinial was shot in the stomach by security guard Michael Chua at around 8:15 am. shortly after grabbing the mobile phone of Carlos Dabo Jr.
According to a police report, Dabo was walking near the Guadalupe Commercial Center (formerly the ABC mall) in Barangay Guadalupe when Servinial and two other men, identified as Edilberto Lucapa and Jun Rodera, approached.
Servinial then grabbed Dabo’s phone and ran, followed by Rodera and Lucapa. Dabo sought the help of Chua, who chased the suspects.
He caught up with Servinial and shot the suspect. Lucapa and Rodera were arrested by Makati policemen after a brief chase.
