MANILA, Philippines - Three teenage detainees escaped from the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) detention center in Muntinlupa City before dawn yesterday.
City police chief Superintendent Eleazar Matta said the detainees, all 17-year-olds, fled the Pacwood Shelter in Tunasan at around 4:30 a.m. after sawing through the steel bars at the back of their cell.
One faces murder charges, another was detained for frustrated homicide, and the third was charged with theft and robbery. A fourth teenager, who tried to escape, was arrested by the city’s public order and safety office.
Matta said a manhunt has already been launched for the three detainees, while the city hall will determine if the shelter will be held liable.
