MANILA, Philippines - The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) needs two more weeks to restore the normal operations at the Balintawak to Roosevelt section of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1.
LRTA and Metro Rail Transit (MRT) spokesperson Hernando Cabrera said functional testing and safety inspection have been completed.
“We are upgrading our system and operational procedures, thus more safety precautions and procedures are being implemented to avoid similar incident in the future,” he said. “Train operators will also be required to undergo periodic tests.”
The Balintawak to Roosevelt section of LRT Line 1 was closed after two trains collided near the Roosevelt Station last Feb. 18.
