MANILA, Philippines - A 16-year-old boy was stabbed dead by an alleged drug addict in Caloocan City before midnight Saturday.
Jay Martillano, a resident of Barangay 73 in Caloocan City died of two stab wounds in the back while on the way to the President Diosdado Macapagal Memorial Medical Center at around 11:45 p.m.
Senior Police Officer 2 Mario Bobby Egera of the Caloocan City police investigation unit said Martillano was walking home with a friend when they met a knife-wielding man identified only as Bonnie.
Martillano tried to avoid the suspect, who was apparently intoxicated, by running away but Bonnie chased the boy and stabbed him twice in the back.
Witnesses told police that Bonnie is a known drug user in Barangay 73 and often harasses teenagers in their area when high on drugs.
Caloocan City police chief Senior Superintendent Jude Santos directed his men yesterday to arrest the suspect and file charges against him.
