Food firm to put up bike racks in UP Diliman

MANILA, Philippines - A food company will install bicycle racks throughout the University of the Philippines Diliman campus in Quezon City to help promote biking as a healthier lifestyle choice among students.

Yesterday morning, more than 300 persons – students, teachers, athletes, young professionals, health buffs, and families – participated in the Growers NutriBar Hip 2B Fit fun run’s three-kilometer, five-km, and 10-km races. A special three-km parent-child race was also held.

The race, organized by Marketreach Distributor Inc. in cooperation with the UP Mountaineers, will benefit the UP Padyak project, which seeks to promote biking as an alternative mode of transportation for students and teachers in UP Diliman.

Partly through the proceeds of the run, Marketreach will donate bicycle racks to be installed around UP Diliman campus, where UP Padyak members can safely park their single-speed cruiser bikes. Each rack can securely accommodate cable-locked bikes.
