MANILA, Philippines - A reserved agent of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) died yesterday after figuring in a head-on collision with a truck in Pasay City early yesterday morning, official said.
Senior Police Officer 2 Jorge Mendioro identified the victim as Roy Evangelista, 37, who was employed as “driver, bodyguard, and escort” of a manager in Kawasaki motors.
Initial investigation showed that Evangelista was traversing South Luzon Expressway’s west service road in Pasay City when his motorcycle slammed into an Isuzu Elf truck driven by a certain Aniceto Basada.
Recovered from the victim was an identification card, stating he was a member of the PSG. Mendioro, however, clarified that it does not mean he was an active member of the said organization.
Evangelista was rushed to the Pasay City General Hospital but doctors declared him dead on arrival, said Mendioro.
Basadais still detained at Pasay City Traffic main office. Authorities are still awaiting the victim’s death certificate and autopsy results before pressing charges against him, the police official added.
He will face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, Mendioro said.
