Motorcyclist dies in road mishap

MANILA, Philippines - A still-unidentified motorcycle rider was killed when he hit a tricycle and slid under a passing 10-wheeler truck that ran over him along the Quezon Avenue-EDSA tunnel in Quezon City early yesterday.

Superintendent Rudie Valmoria said they failed to identify the victim after some people who arrived first at the scene allegedly stole the victim’s wallet and cell phone. An automated teller machine card bearing the name Luigi San Juan was found in the victim’s pocket.

Vendor Eddie Belo, who was driving the tricycle, said the victim, who was driving fast, sideswiped his vehicle and left one of his rubber sandals stuck in the wheel of the tricycle’s sidecar.

The victim’s motorcycle slid under the truck’s rear wheels. Driver Redentor Vitalicio said he did not notice the victim until the motorcyclist struck the side of his truck.   – Jerry Botial
