Roving bank teller robbed of P3 million in Alabang

MANILA, Philippines - A group of robbers took away with them P3 million from a bank teller just after he collected money from a client in Muntinlupa City Monday afternoon.

Senior Superintendent Elmer Jamias, city police chief, said at past 2 p.m, nine armed men wearing police uniforms barged into the Park Trade building at Filinvest in Alabang, disarming lobby guard Cayetano Superio Jr., 40.

Some of the suspects positioned themselves near the elevator and grabbed a duffle bag, which contained the P3 million, held by Union Bank-Makati branch teller Dennis Manriza, 28, when the elevator doors opened.

Even before Manriza’s security escort, Ruperto Butron, 27, could fire a shot, the suspects boarded a Toyota Revo that immediately sped off bringing with them the cash amounting to some P3 million.

Messenger Eric Estrallanes, 32, said he was in the elevator at the time and he was among those the robbers threatened.

Jamias said the invited the victims and other witnesses to identify the suspects from a police rogues’ gallery. They identified three of the suspects as Alvin Flores, Walter Mutia and Titus Timothy Carpentero.

Flores and his group have reportedly been operating in other parts of Metro Manila, Jamias said, adding that footage from a surveillance camera that recorded the incident will be helpful in their investigation. – Rhodina Villanueva
