The police are looking into the death of a policeman who reportedly shot his wife during a quarrel in their house in Taguig City yesterday.
Senior Superintendent Camilo Cascolan, Taguig police chief, identified the policeman as Police Officer 2 Zandro Mejia. Mejia who is detailed with the city police’s Highway Patrol Group, was declared dead on arrival at the Taguig-Pateros Hospital.
Initial reports said Mejia pulled out his 9mm pistol and shot his wife, Elenita, during an argument. Elenita sustained four gunshot wounds and is in critical condition at the Medical City.
“Investigation is still ongoing as to how Mejia also suffered gunshot wounds. His mother, who lives with the couple, cannot yet provide details of the incident since she is still in a state of shock,” he said.
Cascolan added they also learned that Mejia allegedly suffered from a mental illness. – Rhodina Villanueva
