Burglars broke into the house of television host Willie Revillame in a Quezon City subdivision over the weekend and took away valuables worth more than P3 million, police said yesterday.
Investigators believe the burglary was a “very probable” inside job. Police arrested one of Revillame’s housemaids, Andresa Wenceslao, 38, and her reported boyfriend, Danny Pacampang.
“She (Wenceslao) was supposed to report for work this morning but she didn’t show up,” Superintendent Marcelino Pedrozo Jr., deputy chief of the Quezon City Police District-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said.
Pedrozo said even Revillame “thinks it could be Pacampang (who was behind the burglary) because he (Pacampang) was the only other person, apart from the two housemaids, who had access to the house.”
Pedrozo said both suspects denied they had something to do with the burglary.
QCPD director Senior Superintendent Magtanggol Gatdula said the burglary in Corinthian Hills Subdivision may have occurred sometime between Saturday noon when Revillame left the house and when he arrived at around 4 a.m. yesterday.
Pedrozo said the stolen items include 11 wristwatches and several pieces of jewelry.
In a television interview yesterday morning, Revillame, host of the noontime show Wowowee, said it appeared that the suspects attempted but failed to open the vaults in the master’s bedroom, the guest room and his dressing room.
“What puzzles me is that the thieves seemed to know the location of the duplicates of the keys to the vaults and to my cars,” Revillame said.
Senior Inspector Roldante Sarmiento, chief of the QCPD-Station 8’s intelligence and investigation branch, noted that there were 11 vehicles parked in the lot’s garage, none of which was touched by the suspects.
Pedrozo said they have invited for questioning another maid, only known as Edna, who claimed she already noticed last Sunday morning that the three rooms had turned into a mess but did not suspect a burglary had occurred. Wenceslao and Edna took turns manning the house when Revillame was away.
