PLDT donates computers for Parañaque social mobilization project

Telecommunications giant Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT) has donated two computer sets to Barangay Tambo in Parañaque in support of its social mobilization project.

A third computer was earlier added after a private donor, Edward Blanco, turned over his personal computer to project officer Patrick Pineda, also the city environment action officer.

The computer units will be used to store baseline data which primarily consist of listings of families and their members under the People’s Action for Community Transformation program as well as for a community-based monitoring system.

The project concept involves the organization of 25 families into basic and effective units who are committed to help push various environment-related initiatives and other social concerns in Barangay Tambo.

The initiatives and concerns include segregation, composting, ‘Tapat ko, linis ko,’ health, fire prevention, youth sports and development, and livelihood or entrepreneurship.

Pineda said the project is fully supported by Parañaque Mayor Florencio Bernabe Jr. who earlier lauded the Tambo barangay council headed by chairman Wilfredo Dela Cruz for initiating the project.

“This is one self-help social community project that should be emulated by other barangays in the city that is in line with my vision of transforming Parañaque into a model city,” Bernabe said.

Pineda also said the PACT is also in anticipation of Barangay Tambo’s growth forecast for the next 10 years which is expected to be accelerated by the development project of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp.’s (Pagcor) Tourism and Entertainment City which will be partly located in Barangay Tambo.
