The management of a condominium building in Pasay City damaged by fire on Aug. 14 was ordered yesterday to comply with the provisions of the National Building Code.
The Pasay City Engineering Office said the lack of a regular supply of water has been a major problem of residents at the Central Park Condominium.
“Apart from that, we noticed that both buildings 1 and 2 of the condominium only have one elevator each which should not be the case,” engineer Rene Sanchez said.
“It is recommended that a building should have more than one elevator.”
However, Sanchez said their inspection showed that the establishment has fire exits and the sprinkler system is functional.
A one-hour fire destroyed a portion of the Central Park Condominium building last Aug. 14. Arson investigators said the 14th up to the 24th floors were directly affected by the fire, which was reportedly caused by a lighted cigarette thrown down the garbage chute.
Earlier, Pasay City Mayor Wenceslao Trinidad ordered the City Engineer’s Office to check on complaints by condominium residents the building’s elevator and fire extinguishers have not been functioning. – Rhodina Villanueva
