Marikina leads human resources training

A recent survey conducted by the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) showed Marikina City as the best city in the country based on human resources (HR) training.

Marikina Mayor Maria Lourdes Fernando said the institutionalization of the city’s HR training and development strategies earned high marks in the Philippine Cities Competitiveness Ranking Program (PCCRP), a flagship research undertaking of the AIM Policy Center.

PCCRP seeks to identify the best cities in the Philippines in which to live, work, and operate a business.

Marikina City was recognized as one of the top performing cities in the country, along with Davao, Lapu-Lapu, Makati, Manila and Quezon City.

Fernando said the city has several skills enhancement and training centers that provide free training to residents.

Facilities such as the Center for Excellence, MCF Manpower House, City Women’s Council, and Marikina Settlements Office Livelihood and Training Center have become the conduit for producing skilled, disciplined, highly employable, and English-speaking labor force that can easily adapt to international standards.

The AIM survey covered 90 cities.   – Non Alquitran
