One man died while another was critically injured in separate shooting incidents in Navotas City Friday night.
The suspects in both cases managed to escape. The police said both incidents were unprovoked.
The police identified the fatality as Judy Lerona, 27, of Barangay Tangos.
Police Officer 1 Joseph Provido said Lerona was watching a billiards game at the corner of M. Naval and F. Pascual streets at around 7 p.m. when a man approached him and shot him in the head.
The gunman shot Lerona several more times, then walked away. A relative took Lerona to the Navotas Emergency and Lying-In Clinic but he was declared dead on arrival.
At 5 p.m. the same day, ice vendor Jeffrey Derder, 27, was walking with friends along Anthurium street in North Bay Boulevard South when a man known as John Pike shot him in the abdomen.
Derder was taken to the nearest hospital, according to PO1 John Provido. – Jerry Botial
