Teen helps boyfriend steal P1 M from her parents

A 17-year-old girl reportedly helped her boyfriend and his friend to steal valuables from her parents’ house in Quezon City after she had an argument with her parents, the police said yesterday.

Couple Leonardo Manalili, 54, and Carmencita Garma, 49, lost valuables worth P1.2 million to suspects Dunhill Chester Ganboa, 22, and Roleon Palma, 23. The suspects were arrested by the Quezon City Police District Saturday night.

Police Officer 3 Jose Justo Curameng said the couple’s daughter left home after a misunderstanding with her parents but returned just before 2 a.m. Saturday with several companions, including the two suspects, in a taxi while her parents were out.

After an hour, the girl and her companions left the residence but were seen by security guard Joselito Padel. The girl’s parents sought police assistance after finding out about the theft the next morning.

A follow-up operation led policemen to Ganboa’s residence in Sampaloc, Manila, where the two suspects admitted their participation in the crime. The daughter was reportedly a girlfriend of one of the suspects, Curameng said.

Upon learning about what her son had done, Ganboa’s mother, Malou Santos, surrendered two bags that contained some of the stolen items – a laptop computer, a scanner and a cellular phone worth a total of P55,000.

The suspects had reportedly carted away laptop computers, a pair of binoculars, a digital scanner, a .9 mm pistol, jewelry, wristwatches, cellular phones, leather wallets and bags, chocolates and a manicure set.

Curameng said the two suspects could be charged with robbery and child abuse as police are still trying to locate the girl, who remains missing.
