A policeman was arrested by Pasay police officers for reportedly masterminding a series of robberies in the city.
Police Officer 3 Walterio Laurio, 45, a resident of Road Extension, Pasay City, was apprehended in his house by a team led by Chief Inspector Reynaldo Paculan of the Pasay police investigation division last Wednesday. Laurio did not resist arrest.
Case officer PO2 Jonathan Morales said Laurio, of the Police Security Protection Office in Camp Crame, is detailed at the Pakistan Embassy.
Morales said that four hours before Laurio’s arrest, they were able to nab Ricardo Tayumi, 31, who confessed that Laurio – a neighbor – is the one giving their group orders.
They were able to recover from the suspects two cell phones and a passport of one of their victims, who earlier filed a complaint against Tayumi at the police station.
Michelle de la Cruz, 20, married, resident of Belarmino Street, Bangkal, Makati City, a Pagcor employee, told policemen that she was robbed last March 25 by unidentified suspects. She later identified Tayumi from a rogues’ gallery as one of the suspects.
Tayumi faces robbery charges while Laurio could be charged with violating the anti-fencing law.
