Court to raffle off Niño Muhlach case

The Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) is set to raffle the drug case against former child star Niño Mulach after he posted P200,000 bail after spending three days in jail at the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) detention center in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City.

Mulach, Angelo Jose Rocha in real life, was charged with possession of illegal drugs, after his arrest by anti-narcotics operatives during a drug bust in Libis, Quezon City shortly before dawn Tuesday.

According to the police report, Mulach was arrested after an unidentified woman passed him a sachet containing 1.9 grams of shabu. The woman escaped and is now the subject of a police manhunt.

After his arrest, Mulach was subjected to inquest proceedings before the Quezon City prosecutor, who found probable cause for the filing of charges against Mulach for violating the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The prosecutor recommended that Mulach’s bail bond be set at P200,000.

Mulach posted bail on Friday in the presence of his lawyers before the sala of Judge Thelma Ponferada of QCRTC Branch 104, which ordered his release.

After the case is raffled on Monday, the judge assigned to the case will schedule Mulach’s arraignment. – Perseus Echaminada
