NBI opens branch in Mandaluyong

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) opened an office yesterday at EDSA Central Shopping Mall in Mandaluyong City.

People who need NBI clearances no longer need to go to the bureau’s Carriedo office in Manila.

Francisco Donozo, NBI Identification Records Division chief, said the new "one-stop shop satellite center" will greatly benefit Metro Manila residents in Quezon City and in the eastern and southern areas.

"This would decentralize the number of applicants that come in daily to our main Carriedo office. Especially at this time of the year, from January to March, which is considered as the peak season. There are about 6,000 to 8,000 NBI clearance applicants daily," said Donozo. "This would also serve as a back up for our kiosk in SM Megamall that cater to 100 to 150 people a day for clearance renewals."

At present, there are 14 NBI employees manning the satellite office, but he said they might add three more personnel once the satellite office becomes fully operational. It is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Mondays to Fridays. — Evelyn Macairan
