Dolphy’s grandson shot dead in La Loma

A 15-year-old boy, reportedly a grandson of comedy king Dolphy, was shot dead in La Loma, Quezon City yesterday morning.

Central Police District chief Senior Superintendent Nicasio Radovan identified the victim as Jelom Carlo Quizon.

Quizon, police said, had just attended the traditional Misa de Gallo with friends Gener Balangit, 17; and Angelo Abangan, 19, and were walking along A. Bonifacio at about 5:20 a.m. when the still unidentified suspects on board a tricycle appeared and opened fire with pistols.

Police said Quizon sustained a bullet wound in the abdomen. Balangit sustained a bullet wound in the leg while Abangan also sustained a bullet wound in the abdomen.

All three victims were rushed to the Chinese General Hospital. Quizon was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

According to a report by dzMM, Quizon, is the son of former actor Edgar Quizon. Edgar is a son of Dolphy.

The report also said that Quizon was later brought to the St. Peter Funeral Homes along Quezon Avenue.

Employees of the funeral parlor told reporters that Quizon’s body, was later taken to the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory in Camp Crame for autopsy.

Senior Superintendent Procopio Lipana, head of the CPD’s Criminal Investigation Unit, said that the motive behind the shooting has yet to be established.

Lipana added that an uncle of the victim confirmed to police Quizon’s relation to the comedy king.
