Suicide in Parañaque

A 29-year-old Chinese national killed himself early yesterday morning inside his rented house in Parañaque City.

Depression over a failed business venture reportedly drove fatality Johnny Co to commit suicide, initial investigation showed.

Co, of 6 Austria street, Barangay Don Bosco, Better Living Subdivision, killed himself using a handgun.

His sister-in-law, Ramonita, told investigators that he earlier had a drinking spree with some friends at an adjacent house. He went home at around 3 a.m. and then proceeded to the toilet.

Shortly after, Ramonita heard a gunshot. She rushed inside and found Co lying in a pool of blood.

Co had reportedly been depressed because his export business had gone bankrupt, said Senior Inspector Glenn Tigson, chief of the Parañaque Police Criminal Investigation Division (CID).

Members of the Southern Police District-Scene of the Crime Operations (SPD-SOCO) recovered the gun and a spent shell beside Co’s right hand.

Tigson said that police would still investigate if there was foul play involved in the incident.

Co’s remains was brought to the Veronica Funeral homes in Pasay City for autopsy. – Nikko Dizon
