The "Master Plan for a 21st Century Makati is estimated to cost a minimum of P10 billion and would involve the participation of respected Filipino urban planning and development experts, as well as international development institutions.
The initial phase of the plan has started, with studies already commissioned for the construction of an intra-city mass transit system linking the citys Central Business District (CBD) with existing mass transit systems, the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and other key government facilities.
A "memo-net" information system, an electronic link between the city government and all residents and the private sector, is nearly complete, while an urban redevelopment plan enlisting the services of Palafox and Associates is expected to go full blast within the year.
