No bail recommended for double-slay suspects

The Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office has recommended no bail for two teenagers under police custody for allegedly killing a Christian missionary and her housemaid last week.

Central Police District (CPD) director Senior Superintendent Napoleon Castro said yesterday Jesus Austero III and Ralph Lester Roxas, both 18, were brought for inquest on robbery with homicide charges Friday night.

Austero was arrested Thursday while Roxas was turned in by her own mother Friday afternoon.

Austero tagged Roxas as the "mastermind" in the killing of Myrna Loi Beebe, 58, and Jovelyn Parejo, 21 in Barangay Culiat, Quezon City.

Roxas has denied involvement in the killing, claiming that he was simply a "fall-guy."

Meanwhile, Castro said that aggressive follow-up operations are being undertaken by the elements of the CPD to locate and apprehend the third suspect identified as Nomer Mallo, 19. Mallo is believed to have gone into hiding in Cagayan de Oro City.

On the wee hours of Jan. 14, the three teenagers allegedly robbed and stabbed to death Beebe and Parejo inside their house located at 13 Viola street, St. Dominic Subdivision in Barangay Culiat.

Police recovered from one of the suspects a Gucci watch, a Nokia 3310 cell phone, assorted pieces of jewelry and about P15,000 in cash, which all belong to the slain missionary. – Katherine Adraneda
