Another cab driver attacked

It won’t be a merry Christmas for this cabbie.

A taxi driver was stabbed and seriously wounded by two armed robbers, who held him up then greeted him "Merry Christmas" in Sta. Ana, Manila before dawn yesterday.

The unidentified robbers took off with the P500 earnings and the wristwatch of the victim Bibiano Jolve, 52 of Golden City, Imus Cavite.

Jolve told investigators PO1 Erwin Salanio that he was driving his taxi (PYB 866) with "Berani" markings along Roxas Boulevard when two men flagged him down in front of the Grand Boulevard Hotel in Ermita, Manila.

The robbers asked Jolve to bring them to Sta. Ana. Upon reaching the corner of Herran and Pedro Gil streets, the suspects announced the heist and threatened the driver with knives.

"Pasensya ka na, manong. Kailangan namin ang pera mo. Merry Christmas na lang," Jolve quoted the suspects as telling him.

The driver said he gave his P500 earnings. The robbers were not too pleased with the amount, prompting them to stab Jolve repeatedly. – Cecille Suerte Felipe
