ALI reinforces sustainability drive

MANILA, Philippines — Property giant Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) continues to advance its sustainability performance after being named among TIME’s World’s Most Sustainable Companies for the second consecutive year.

ALI climbed 117 places to rank 369th globally in Time’s World’s Most Sustainable Companies 2026, emerging as the only Philippine real estate developer on the list.

It joins Globe Telecom Inc. as the only two Philippine companies recognized this year.

ALI said the recognition reinforces its focus on creating estates and developments that are environmentally responsible, economically resilient and socially inclusive.

The company said the higher ranking validates its continued progress in initiatives such as expanding renewable energy use and low-carbon buildings, as well as reducing waste and strengthening the resilience of its estates and developments.

“For Ayala Land, long-term value for our communities and sustainable development go hand in hand – one simply isn’t possible without the other. This recognition from TIME is deeply meaningful, and it reinforces our commitment to building places designed to last for generations,” ALI president and CEO Meean Dy said.

ALI chief sustainability officer Robert Lao said the company’s sustainability strategy is focused on delivering measurable outcomes at scale across its portfolio.

“By expanding our use of renewable energy, advancing low-carbon buildings, improving resource efficiency and strengthening climate resilience, we are reducing environmental impacts while enhancing the long-term performance of our assets and estates. This recognition from TIME affirms our progress in these areas,” Lao said.

As of end-2025, 98 percent of gross leasable area across ALI’s malls, offices and hotels is powered by renewable electricity or supported by renewable energy certificates.

ALI also diverted 44 percent of waste generated from operations and construction activities away from landfills in 2025, supporting its goal of achieving zero waste to landfill by 2030.

The company likewise holds EDGE Zero Carbon certification for more than 1.5 million square meters of commercial office space, representing the largest certified office portfolio of its kind globally.

Further, the company said pedestrian networks, bike lanes, electric vehicle charging facilities and transit links continue to expand across its estates.
