Working student, 16, arrested for “stealing” jewels from employer

CEBU, Philippines - The police arrested yesterday a 16-year-old working student for allegedly stealing from her employer pieces of jewelry worth P105,000.

Her employer who works for Pagcor in barangay Lahug, Cebu City as a teller, accused the girl of stealing a diamond gold ring worth P60,000, a pair of pearl earrings worth P12,000, gold earrings worth P12,000, a topaz ring worth P10,000, a white gold-sapphire ring valued at P15,000, and a white gold ring worth P3,000.

The employer said last August 28, the girl was caught taking her Pagcor uniform.

The girl told police she wore the uniform to a job interview.

As regards the pieces of jewelry, she admitted having pawned these in barangay Tabok, Mandaue City.

Charges were filed against the girl in the city prosecutor’s office. — (FREEMAN)
