Traffic enforcer claims he was abducted
CEBU, Philippines - An off duty traffic enforcer of the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (TEAM) yesterday alleged that he was abducted by two civilians who were on board an sports utility (SUV) vehicle Wednesday at around 11 am at the Mantawi Drive at the North Reclamation Area in Mandaue City.
Virgilio Cruel, 53, who has worked as a traffic enforcer in Mandaue for the past 2 years claimed he was abducted by two men.
Cruel alleged that before the abduction took place, he had apprehend a ten-wheeler truck along the Mantawi Drive for illegal parking.
He then demanded for the driver’s license but the driver failed to give it to him.
He said a few minutes later, two men on board an SUV arrived, and assumed that the man who got of the vehicle was the owner of the truck because it was this man who confronted him.
But after an exchange of words, they both agreed to meet at the TEAM office, with Cruel assuming that the man would just file a formal complaint.
Cruel said he was to take a jeepney then when the man insisted that he ride with them in his car.
He said that while they were travelling, he noticed that the car was going in the wrong direction.
Cruel said the man told him they were bringing him to the NBI-7 office.
At this point, Cruel said he opened the door and jumped out of the SUV.
TEAM director Erwin Ermac said the owner of the SUV will soon be identified. (FREEMAN)
