CEBU, Philippines - Sixth district Representative Luis Gabriel Quisumbing and representatives from the Department of Energy (DOE) distributed afternoon yesterday compact fluorescent lamps to constituents in Mandaue City.
The distribution of free lamps, done at the Norkis park in barangay Centro, Mandaue City, is a project of the DOE under its “Bright Now! Do Right. Be Bright Campaign” of the National Residential Lightning Program of the government agency.
DOE, in its earlier statement, said the distribution will starts from September 22 until Sept 28.
It was learned yesterday from Jessie Perez, Quisumibing’s district manager, said the legislator will personally hand over these CFLs to all of his 5,000 constituents in the district.
For Mandaue City alone, Quisumbing distributed 2,500 lamps.
He also intends to distribute 1,500 Monday in Consolacion and 1,000 in Cordova.
To avail of two lamps, residents must show their latest paid electric bill for the month of August.
A representative from the DOE will explain to residents the advantages of switching from their old incandescent lamps to CFL. (FREEMAN)
