CEBU, Philippines - Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes has wondered why the name of P S/Supt. Erson Digal was floated as replacement for Mandaue City Police Office Director PS/Supt. Noel Gillamac who has already reached his two year’s stint of office.
Cortes said he has not found a replacement for Gillamac because he has yet to receive the list of names of five police officials from which he will choose the next city police director.
However, the mayor said that he already has someone in mind who he thinks will be a good replacement of Gillamac.
The mayor declined to reveal the name.
“Unsa may pilian nako kon wa pa’y nahatag nga listahan dire nako,” Cortes said.
He said assistance to the police will be affected if PRO-7 decides without consulting the city government.
Since Gillamac has declined the city’s proposal to extend his stay as MCPO director, the mayor said he will then follow the policy of the PNP in order to give other police officials the opportunity to “shine”.
Cortes again expressed his satisfaction with Gillamac’s performance as MCPO director. - THE FREEMAN
