CEBU, Philippines - The commemoration of All Souls’ Day in Talisay City was generally peaceful thanks to cooperative residents, said Talisay City Police Station chief Eddie Recamara.
"We had a peaceful commemoration of the All Saints’ Day and All Souls Day here. It is because the public observed the laws," said Recamara.
A handful of individuals were caught trying to slip in liquor into the public cemetery in barangay Poblacion, and some knives and bolos were intercepted, but generally it was a peaceful long weekend in Talisay City's four cemeteries.
The police chief also expressed his gratitude to the Talisay City Intelligence Bureau (TCIB) for augmenting the police force.
Policemen were still in cemeteries in barangays Poblacion and Cansojong, which still drew crowds even after last Tuesday's heavy rains. - THE FREEMAN
