CEBU, Philippines - A man died Sunday dawn while cleaning a cement mixer.
Elpidio Bejagan, 58, married, a batching plant helper of the Kimwa Construction and Development Corporation, was cleaning the machine at past 3 a.m., police said.
When Octavio de Luna, the batching plant operator, arrived at 4 a.m., he immediately started the machine not knowing Bejagan was inside.
When de Luna heard unusual sounds inside the mixer, he asked batching plant helper Edgar Bejagan, 24, who is Elpidio's son, to check what was causing the noise.
The younger Bejagan saw his father's arms and limbs detached from his body and his face already deformed.
Homicide chief Ramil Morpos said it was an accident because de Luna did not know someone was inside the machine at the time.
"Aksidenta ra ang nahitabo, murag naalimungawan siguro ang biktima unya nanglimpyo sa mixer, nga unta kuno dili man kuno to mao ang oras nga tinglimpyo sa mixer," Morpos said.
A case of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide is being prepared against de Luna.
