2 gambling machines confiscated in Talisay

CEBU, Philippines - The Talisay City Police yesterday morning confiscated two illegal gambling machines in barangay Biasong, Talisay City.

The group, led by Insp. Hugo Rio Iping, seized a video karera machine and a mole-mole machine kept in a house reportedly operated by "Pedro" and "Temmy" who weren't home when the raid took place.

This is the first time in more than a year that the police have confiscated such illegal-gambling machines.

In 2010, the city had no case of video karera or mole-mole operations in all its 22 barangays. This was a result of the PNP's strong campaign against illegal gambling.

The police acted on complaints from neighbors about the presence of such machines in Biasong.

Mole-mole is another slot machine popular among children, but lately, these young patrons have developed a taste for video karera.

Biasong was among those villages in Talisay that was commended by the city council in 2008 for successfully curbing the proliferation of video karera machines.

It was during this time, when police had strengthened its effort against the proliferation of video karera machines. (FREEMAN)
