Kate, Cara and that ‘70s soul

The force is strong in the boho trend this year as it transitions from festival fashion to holiday glam for Mango. Kate and Cara — no need for last names, really, but Moss and Delevigne, if you must know, star in the Spanish retail label’s #SomethingInCommon campaign for its autumn/winter 2015 collection.

The two have more than something in common: their free-spirited vibe, long flowy hair, a knack for landing every coveted fashion job on the planet, and a distinct sense of style.

Mango’s latest collection is abundant with ponchos and capes, chiffon kaftans, maxi dresses, bell-sleeved blouses, and details that characterize ‘70s style, like fringe, floral patterns, faux fur and intricate embroidery. Worn by Kate and Cara, the pieces look like something taken straight outta their closets. Denim overalls, sneakers and messy hair? Very Cara. A flowy boho top and flared trousers? So Kate.

“Cara Delevigne and Kate Moss are fashion icons who can represent the brands and embody the latest trends very well. In August, we launched the teaser #SomethingInCommon. By September, we launched the faces of Kate and Cara, wearing featured items from our fall/winter collection,” says Kelly Santos, Mango Phippines country supervisor. The campaign was shot in Toronto, Canada in May, and brought the two designer muses and iconic fashion faces together.

“We have boho day trends and boho night trends, and the textures and silhouttes are different. For autumn, it’s all about maxi dresses, flowy tops and ‘60s- and ‘70s-inspired glam. There are maxi coats and other boho silhouettes, but in heavier fabrics like suede and wool,” she explains.

Coinciding with the introduction of the new collection is the launch of Mango’s new concept store in Eastwood. “We just celebrated our 15th year. In total we have 38 shops — 26 Woman, seven Man, five Touch stores, one sports line and six kids’ lines. We’re relaunching the Eastwood store in a more accessible location in the 1880 building in Eastwood City and a new store concept,” says Santos.

Mango launched its newest branch in 1880 Avenue Building, Orchard Road, Eastwood City with a VIP Preview Shopping Night recently. The outlet carries the brand’s Women’s and Kid’s lines.
