Dear Hong Kong

In the Mood for Love: Oriental print dress, floral print jacket and red bag, all by Zara. Sunglasses by Preen (available at Ronnie and Joe), earrings and necklace by Natalya Lagdameo

MANILA, Philippines - In the bustling hub that is Hong Kong, more than a few broken hearts are drifting. Despite the fact that it is the Asian city most alive, almost perceptibly breathing and growing every day, there remains the feeling of a general melancholy, an almost ghostly echo for those who have lived there all their lives. Perhaps it’s the cramped quarters, or the familiarity of the many winding side streets and small stores that keep the city bustling, but in this fast place of romance and endless stream of transitory stories, there is also constant heartbreak. We take a page (or rather, a screen) from one of our favorite directors, Wong Kar-wai, in an editorial that pays homage to a personal favorite: In the Mood for Love. Imbibing the mystery and culture of the city in Zara’s finest oriental-inspired wear, we show you how truly beautiful the lonely streets of Hong Kong can be.
