MANILA, Philippines - If there’s a closet worth raiding, Rihanna easily ranks on everyone’s top five list.
While in London last week to launch her latest collection for River Island (which opens in SM Aura this November), Rihanna was spotted wearing fresh-off-the-runway Alexander Wang. “How’d she get it so quickly?†one online commenter complained.
When you’re a major celeb with swag (and over three million Instagram followers to boot), designers practically throw clothes at you faster than a naked Miley Cyrus video earns viewer hits.
The performer has been promoting what she terms “Ghetto Gothâ€: form-fitting floor-length body-skimming crew-necked dresses in black with a slit. Consider it the 2013 version of The Craft uniform. More ‘90s than Goth (though the dark lipstick pays homage to the witchy vibe), the singer has been garbing herself in sporty silhouettes, courtesy of Wang and his cohorts, as well as Jeremy Scott.
Fond of bodycon silhouettes that leave nothing to the imagination, Rihanna has been known to rock a playful tracksuit by Jeremy Scott or an oversize sweatshirt and leather leggings. Lately, she’s been prone to sophisticated slinky ensembles.
At the launch of her latest MAC RiRi collection earlier this week in Hong Kong, the singer showed up to a huge crowd in a white Versace resort 2014 number: crop top turtleneck and slit skirt. The look appears to channel sex sirens, one iconic ’90s look in particular: the white turtlenecked Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct.
