MANILA, Philippines - The warriors of Filipino metal, Wolfgang, howl anew with an impending concert on March 19, 8 p.m. at the Music Museum, Greenhills, San Juan.
Presented by No Fear, Wolfgang shapeshifts in the show entitled “Two Sides Live,” featuring both electric as well as acoustic performances. It will combine both intensity and intimacy with Wolfgang’s trademark ferocious aural attack.
Advance ticket sales for Wolfgang’s fans are ongoing through hotline 0906-103-5333. For more details, check out the official Wolfgang Philippine pages on Facebook and Multiply.
Wolfgang is Basti Artadi on vocals, Manuel Legarda on guitars, Ramon Legaspi on bass and Francis Aquino on drums. Joining the headbangers are comrades-in-arms Razorback (Kevin Roy, Tirso Ripoll, Louie Talan and Brian Velasco).
“The Brotherhood of Wolves” will perform at the Mosaic Music Festival on March 22, at the Esplanade Theaters by the Bay, Singapore.
Both shows will feature Wolfgang’s monster hits as well as new material from their sixth album, “Villains.”
“We simply change the songs. It would be pointless to try and capture the exact same thing as an electric recording when going acoustic, because it simply is a completely different animal,” Basti Artadi said in an interview about the process of transforming their recordings to acoustic performances. “We do keep some similar elements, however, such as the drum breaks and the midsection jamming to still connect it to the original.”
Says Manuel Legarda: “I will try to pick out the most prominent guitar layer and prioritize that. If possible, I would sometimes blend two parts together and play them as one. For the acoustic shows, it’s a little tougher so I also like reworking each song’s arrangement to fit the acoustic instrument better. This usually involves changing the tempo, dynamics and chord voicings.”
