If you think that was hard, well, the VJs also had to entertain the audience and think of ways they could get the people to respond. The first pair up was Mary Ann Sansano (model, events host and actress) and Louie Tortuya (Southeast Asian studies student at the University of the Philippines-Diliman) who introduced 7 Shots of Wisdom. The second pair was Mich Astudillo (Computer Science graduate of Ateneo de Davao, ramp and commercial model plus a CPR instructor) and Jansen Cunanan (former disc jockey of 89.9 DWTM and a Physical Therapy graduate) who had the privilege of presenting Dingdong Avanzado. The third pair was Carlos Ramos (Biology student of Ateneo de Davao and events coordinator) and Charms Espina (environmentalist and third year student of De La Salle University) who had the opportunity to introduce the popular band Imago. Next up were Monique del Mar (actress and commercial and print model), who both showed much enthusiasm for Andrew E – who was also the next performer. The last pair was composed of Derek Ramsay, talk show host, model and Marketing and Engineering student) and Anna Shier (magna cum laude graduate from the University of Minnesota and model). They introduced sandwich in a quirky and original way.
The VJ wannabes were judged by TV and theater director Bobby Garcia; head of mobile communication of Smart Communications Boy Martinez; Monster Radio RX 93.1 president Chito Barreiro; assistant brand manager of Lux Super Rich Shampoo Collette Reyes; columnist Donnie Ramirez; MTV Philippines managing director Francis Lumen; Mentos product manager Fritzie Salem; Young Star Magazine editor-in-chief Ginggay Joven; Bistro Holdings CEO Merrit Crocker; Philippine Star Lifestyle editor Millet Mananquil; editorial director and editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan Magazine Myrza Sison; editorial advisor of MTV Philippines Tan Sian Ju; eventologist, columnist and Benetton image model Tim Yap; Anonymous, i2i New York, Black Shop, Fish and Mix creative director Tina Maristela-Ocampo; MTV Ink associate publisher and Pulp editor-in-chief Vernon Go and artist manager Wyngard Tracy.
At the end of the night, there could be only one – or rather, two! Two new VJs – definitely the favorite of the crowd – were announced. They were also the "Fresh Face" winners. Ladies and gentlemen, Anna Shier and Derek Ramsay!
They get a contract from MTV and get to fly to Singapore. The best reward for them, of course, is to hold the official MTV microphones for the first time. So watch out for these fresh faces on your TV 24/7!
