HOLLYWOOD HUNKS (Part 2)

And where did we leave off? Oh yeah…

Ryan Phillippe

With his golden locks and angelic looks, Ryan Phillippe has been causing waves since his daytime drama days on One Day to Live as television's first gay teenage character. After moving in with close friends and fellow actors Breckin Meyer and Seth Green, Ryan landed a role on the hunks-at-sea movie, White Squall. After gaining teen stardom on the thriller, I Know What You Did Last Summer. He went on to play the snobbish stepbrother to Buffy's Sarah Michelle Geller in the sexy Cruel Intentions (co-star Reese Witherspoon is now Mrs. Phillippe btw, sorry girls). Ryan then landed a more mature lead role in the elegantly wasted flick,'54 then went hi-tech in Anti-Trust. Clearly, he is not just teenybopper material. --BTS

Chris Klein

Who could forget about the dim-witted but sweet jock Chris Klein played on the summer hit, American Pie? Launched into stardom by his all-American good looks and a flair for camp, the 21 year old hunk got his first shot of stardom in the 1999 campus movie, Elections, with Reese Witherspoon. But it was his second movie, American Pie that got gals all around the world go gaga, never mind that he played the exact same role in his first movie. He followed up his success with the teen romance 'Here on Earth' opposite Leelee Sobieski, and the toilet-humored, bad-hair flick, 'Say It Isn't So' with Heather Graham. Being the current flame of Dawson's Creek babe Katie Holmes also boosted this dude's celeb status. Expect more lovable goofball antics from Chris in American Pie 2 later this year. --BTS

Jason Behr

Jason Behr, 27, casts an intense stare with his soulful eyes and dark brooding looks as Max, the reluctant leader of earthbound aliens in the hit series Roswell. His character - driven performances in both TV and feature films has earned him accolades from both critics and audiences. It looks like fame was in his stars when he boarded a bus for Los Angeles from his native Minneapolis, Minnesota - after graduation from Richfield High School (where he was voted 'Most Destined for Fame') - to seriously pursue his career. He discovered a love for acting when he appeared in a school play at the age of five. As soon as he arrived in LA, Jason did the round of auditions, and soon bagged parts in series like Sherman Oaks, JAG, Profiler, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. His first lead role was in the short-lived series Push, but it was his six-episode stint as bad boy Chris (who seduces Michelle Williams' character Jen Lindley) in Dawson's Creek that made him a household name. For the last two years, he has been playing the lead role of Max in alien teen drama Roswell, with upcoming teen stars Shiri Appleby, Katherine Heigl, Brendan Fehr, and Majandra Delfino. He also played a small part in the 1998 film Pleasantville, before tackling the role of Campbell Farley in the critically acclaimed independent film Rites of Passage opposite Dean Stockwell. He is currently filming The Shipping News, which stars Kevin Spacey and Annette Benning, in Nova Scotia. On a lighter note, Jason loves sports, fast car! s, movies, and Krispy Kreme donuts, and he has a pet Akita named Ronin. - EST

Tobey Maguire

At 26 years of age, Tobey Maguire has pulled together quite an impressive resume of critically acclaimed films, appearing with legendary actors like Michael Douglas, Michael Caine, William H. Macy and actresses Joan Allen and Sigourney Weaver. Never quite fitting into the matinee idol mold, Tobey carved a niche for himself as a serious actor, taking on roles that were intelligent, witty, and full of heart. After a series of cameos and a supporting role in the 1996 film The Ice Storm (directed by Lasse Hallstrom), he was cast in his first lead role as Bud/David in Pleasantville (opposite Reese Witherspoon and Paul Walker) about teens who get sucked into a 1950's TV show. His next role was in the Oscar-nominated film The Cider House Rules, based on John Irving's novel of the same title, where he played the orphan Homer Wells who longed to spread his wings past the sleepy Maine town. His honest portrayal of Homer won him accolades from film critics. For his next project, Mag! uire opted to play the troubled teen/gifted writer who causes a stir in the life of his professor (Michael Douglas) in the melancholic comedy The Wonder Boys. He also appears in the period film Ride With the Devil with Jewel and Skeet Ulrich. This talented character actor is set to play Peter Parker / Spiderman in the film adaptation of the comic book.
