The wait is finally over. After an eight-year hiatus, the one and only “Superstar” of the Philippines is now back in the country for a series of acting engagements. Nora Aunor arrived at around 3:45 a.m. on August 2 onboard PAL (Philippine Airlines) flight PR 103.
As expected, hundreds, if not thousands, of die-hard Noranians gathered at the airport to welcome their idol, who is set to do a miniseries with TV5.
Ate Guy (as the Superstar is fondly called) met members of the entertainment press at a media conference organized by TV5 Corporate PR at the Boracay Room of EDSA Shangri-La at noontime on the same day.
The million-peso question
Rumor has it that the Superstar will be receiving a hefty sum for her rather short stay in the country. She will be staying in the country for three months, 20 days of which will be dedicated to the miniseries she is set to topbill with TV5, and about 7 to 10 days to film a period movie with Laguna governor E.R. Ejercito.
Ate Guy’s talent fee is reportedly (though unconfirmed) pegged at around P1 million per taping day, a figure the Superstar neither confirmed nor denied.
“Huwag na nating anuhin 'yan (referring to the talent fee). Ang importante, matapos ang trabaho at magawa nang maayos,” said Ate Guy with a smirk.
Perci Intalan, TV5 vice president for entertainment, likewise refused to comment on reports about Ate Guy’s reported talent fee.
Exclusive contract with TV5
Nora will star in an upcoming miniseries, to be directed by Mario O’Hara, on TV5. The said miniseries will run for four weeks.
"Nandito po ako para sa presscon ng Channel 5 (TV5), na may miniseries po akong gagawin for 20 taping days,” the Superstar explained during the press conference.
Ate Guy also confirmed that she signed an exclusive contract with TV5. Intalan, on the other hand, clarified that despite the exclusivity of Ate Guy’s contract, they are not closing their doors to other networks, saying that Nora is too big a star for them not to share with others. In fact, news crew from rival networks ABS-CBN and GMA were present at the press conference.
No further details have been released about Ate Guy’s miniseries with TV5 as the management is still finalizing it.
Superstar Grand Fans Day
The Kapatid Network is now gearing up for an exciting welcome treat for Ate Guy as it sets a “Superstar Grand Fans Day” on August 7, 2011. The said fans day will be held at the TV5 studio in Broadway Centrum.
The Superstar and TV5 also welcomed the idea of a regional tour for the actress in key cities in the provinces, if schedule permits.
