MANILA, Philippines - Over 500 broadcast leaders and journalists will convene to discuss “Media Impact, Influence and Integrity in Changing Times” at the 6th Asia Media Summit (AMS) scheduled on May 26-27 at the Venetian Macao Resort Hotel in Macau.
Registration is ongoing, according to an announce-ment by the Malaysia-based Asia Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD), orga-nizer of the yearly event.
The annual summit gathers broadcasting leaders from Asia and worldwide to discuss media’s role in society and its development. Participants will network, share business strategies, and address various challenges facing the industry.
This year’s summit will cover a wide range of topics — media recruitment, coverage of food and fuel prices, small media stations’ management, media in conflict zones and emerging democracies, as well as new media and the next generation, marketing and advertising strategies, and creating media-literate citizens.
In addition to the AMS, there will be two pre-summit events on May 24 and workshops on May 25.
Dr. Javad Mottaghi, director of AIBD, says he looks forward to welcoming delegates to the AMS, which he describes as a “unique opportunity to contribute to enhancing building dialogues across continents” in the “fascinating environment in Macau.”
Hosted by Telefusao de Macau, S.A. (TDM), the AMS is seen by Macau travel and government officials as boosting Macau’s status as Asia’s top conference, meetings, and exhibition destination.
As a city where one experiences a mix of Euro-pean and Chinese cultures, Macau is touted as a place where peoples of various races and religions mingle, respecting a diversity of identities.
It is this cultural diversity that is expected to produce an environment conducive to a healthy discussion and debate of topics lined up for the two-day conference.
