A dotty night at the museum

MANILA, Philippines - Ayala Museum and Supreme invite you to peer into the life and work of one of the art world’s contemporary monoliths, Yayoi Kusama, in an event simply dubbed “I Love Kusama Night.”

On Aug. 22, 6:30 p.m., a one-time screening of two films on and by the artist will be held at the Ayala Museum ground floor lobby.

The first, I Adore Myself: Near Equal Kusama Yayoi, is a 2008 documentary film by Takako Matsumoto, following Kusama in a strenuous but fascinating one and a half years “gracing the international art scene” with her presence. The program also includes the showing of Kusama’s Self Obliteration, a 1967 short starring the artist performing her art in various environmental settings.

Ayala Museum will also open its Ground Floor Gallery so guests can view the exhibition “I Love Kusama,” currently featuring the artist’s paintings, prints, sculptures and installations from the impressive collection of Lito and Kim Camacho.

Admission is at P75, inclusive of free-flowing drinks care of Carat Vodka Premium, from 8-10 p.m.
