Nine

MANILA, Philippines - Let’s call a spade a spade, a good party, a good party. And Bora Bound, now on its ninth installation, the longest running party series on the island of Boracay. They say 9 is the number of change, and boy, did the revelers party for a change! Okay, so last weekend, there was a liqour ban all over the country, but that didn’t stop the scene’s sizzling personalities from appreciating what Mother Nature has to offer —that is, an intoxicating bounty of beauty.

Beauty queens, models, hosts, VJs, Djs — they’re all the same party-loving folk we love to watch. Every so often in a year, they go to Boracay for some R&R and bonding time with friends. Bora Bound always has some adventure and advocacy woven into its program, so everyone tries their best to participate (more challenging if you partied all night) in beach games and cleanups.

Flown in via Seair were Globe tattoo winners Carlo delos Santos and Marco Martinez to join in on the fun under the Aria beachfront sun, where Pinoy-inspired games like piko, palo sebo, and jolens were the happy highlights. Sunset and off they all go to Solstice, the Tides Hotel Rooftop for some sunset tanning while sipping Absolut and Chivas cocktails.

With Manila DJs on rotation around Bora native decks, DJ Ron Poe and Acid Burns took turns in Guilly’s on the first night and a scorching performance by Rachel Lobangco (no less!) shook the Tides Roofdeck, right before a cruise with Captain Marcelo Kaiser of MV Vianele.

If you had a weekend like this, wouldn’t you be inspired, too?
