MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Cancer Society (PCS) recognizes “Men of Exemplary Influence” (MEI), nine Filipinos who displayed magnanimous leadership and compassionate generosity, during the Gala Awards Ball of the Best Dressed Women of the Philippines (BDWP) on Sept. 24 at the ballroom of Makati Shangri-La Hotel.
The nine awardees are Atty. Mike Varela, board chairman of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Jose Marie Albert, Gerry Michael Lane, Michael Victor Severino Martel, Reynaldo Castillo, Philip Laude, Noel Gonzales, Dr. Steve Mark Gan and Juancho Robles.
“These men are highly respected business leaders and professionals who extend their compassionate concerns into philanthropic kindness towards our less-fortunate brethren,” says overall chairperson Consul Helen Ong.
“With their selection, we highlight the need for the business community to lend support to the programs and projects of the PCS, which fund the diagnostic treatment needs of the disadvantaged sector of society,” adds MEI chair Consul Agnes Huibonhoa.
The PCS is a non-stock, non-profit organization dedicated to serve poor Filipinos in the fight against cancer through research, education and information, patient services and hospice and palliative care.
