Cantonese food fest at Dusit Thani

MANILA, Philippines - Dusit Thani Manila, in partnership with the Embassy of China, Marco Polo Hotel Hong Kong and Cebu Pacific Air, presents a festival of authentic Cantonese cuisine from Sept. 4 to 10 for buffet lunch and dinner at the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant, Basix.

Flown all the way from Cucina, Hong Kong courtesy of Cebu Pacific Air, Cantonese guest chef Wong Hoi Ming presents the flavors of real Chinese food which characterize his 34 creative culinary years in the hospitality industry. Catch chef Hoi as makes noodles with a live demonstration daily at Basix. Sharing the limelight is chef Kong Shiu Ki who spent more than two decades mastering Cantonese cuisine.

On Sept. 4, bring the entire family for lunch and usher in good health, wealth and luck with a traditional lion dance performance. You can also find out your fortune from the guest feng shui master and browse auspicious charms, crystals and Chinese handicrafts on display during the festival.

A wide variety of authentic cold specialties include shredded abalone and jelly vegetable served cold, sesame chicken, fresh cucumber with vinegar sauce, spicy beef shin, deep-fried tofu, big bean sprout and chicken, dried shrimps and diced bean curd, preserved vegetable and turkey gizzard. Scrumptious hot dishes are sweet and sour fillet garoupa, stirfried mushrooms with garlic, fried prawns with pine nuts, sauteed chicken Sichuan style, wok-fried udon noodles with seafood, conpoy and vegetable fried rice, braised tofu with bamboo pith and vegetables, golden fried finger fish with sweet and sour sauce, crispy pork loin, braised assorted fungus with law-hon style, among others.

Guests craving a different cultural taste may also feast on a wide array of international dishes.

The Cantonese food festival is available from Sept. 4 to 10, inclusive of sodas, juices, wines and local beers for only P1,150 net for buffet lunch and P1,299 net for buffet dinner at Basix.
