MANILA, Philippines - Sitting protectively with his canine pals Stella and Athena, Metta World Peace is the star of a brand-new PETA campaign reminding his fans that if they witness animal abuse, the ball is in their court and they should always report it immediately to local authorities.
Cruelty to animals takes many forms, including keeping dogs chained up outside without adequate food, water, or shelter; failing to provide hurt or sick animals with veterinary care; throwing away puppies or kittens; and much, much more. If you ever see or suspect that an animal is being neglected or abused, call your local authorities immediately or contact PETA at 0999-888-7382 for assistance. For animals in danger, one phone call can mean the difference between life and perhaps a horrible death.

Metta, whose first PETA campaign urged families always to spay and neuter their dogs and cats, is part of a long list of athletes and other celebrities — including Candace Parker, Amar’e Stoudemire, and Dennis Rodman — who have spoken up against animal abuse.
