For its third anniversary, the city’s first world-class homegrown hotel brand hosted a stylish tropical hacienda-living event called “From 3 to Z.” The well-attended celebration also marked the launch of Zabana Rum in Ilioilo as well as the opening of the hotel’s newest al fresco outlet, Zabana Bar.

The party kicked off with a warm welcome from the hotel’s resident manager, Natalie Lim. Pablo Sim, assistant brand manager, Brown Spirits of Emperador Distillers Inc. introduced the newest, proudly Philippine-made liquor Zabana Rum, hailed as the “Real Rum of the Philippines.” Zabana uses only the finest local ingredients to create a unique, and distinctly Filipino rum. The launch was quite fitting as Panay Island is one of the country’s top producers of sugarcane, the main ingredient of rum.

Mixologists Kenneth Alonso and Mike Valero encouraged guests to taste the different combinations of the Zabana rum in their Filipino-inspired cocktail drinks such as Mabuhay, Makata, Palamig and Kaaikit-akit. Local ingredients include calamansi, mangoes, coconut, papaya, dayap and tanglad stalks.

To highlight Megaworld’s style and sophistication in its developments — which include among many others, five posh residential condominiums such as One Madison Place, La Fayette Park Square, The Palladium, Saint Honore and Saint Dominique — a one-of-a-kind fashion show on water was presented right at the pool. The creative street wear were styled by Ryan Hinayhinay and the trendy tropical attires were done by PJ Aranador. The chic formal collection was designed by Sidney Eculla and Paolo Conte. DJ Lean Zayco and the Patikeros provided the evening’s upbeat music.
